Job Description

The Employer

One of our clients, a leading construction and real estate development company based in Muscat is looking for General Manager-Construction with solid local and/or regional experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Daily management of up to five project staff and multiple sub-contractors.
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring that all quality control, health, safety and environmental and requirements.
  • Formulated policies, managed daily operations, and planned the use of materials.
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance.  Review the work progress on daily basis.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses.
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Analyzed any construction project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization.
  • Providing independent professional advice and guidance to senior manager and third parties.
  • Planning site activities in detail, setting targets and accurately forecasting completion dates.
  • Accurately estimate material, construction and labor costs as well as project timescales.
  • Directing and supervising operation team, supervisors, and the workers.
  • In charge of the project budget for materials and work force & maintaining accurate billing records.



  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to build teams, resolve conflict, motivate and develop subordinates.
  • Ability to plan, organizes, monitor and if necessary take corrective action on projects.
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of related company management systems.
  • Able to react quickly and effectively when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Can control multiple construction projects simultaneously.  Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize and plan effectively.
  • Proven problem solving abilities, able to identify, assess, evaluate and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to co-ordinate, control and monitor all sub-contractors’ activities on site.  Recommending ways of improving the use of staff, materials, equipment and other resources.
  • Extensive knowledge of building legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience in occupational safety regulations.
  • Up to date with the latest developments and technologies in the construction industry.
  • Practical construction knowledge and be able to work from drawings.
  • Experience of acquiring land for construction projects.
  • Good at logistics, planning and problem solving.


  • Worked as GM / Acting GM minimum 2 years
  • Has at least 15 years’ experience working in Construction Industry
  • Currently or previously worked in Oman
  • Having experience of managing Family group business.
  • Being an energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic leader with demonstrable experience of driving change, leading operations across multiple geographies to growth and better efficiency with a regional experience.
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and with cultural sensitivity.
  • Gifted with negotiation and convincing skills.
  • Skilled on group talk on labor level with guiding skill.
